Everything can be modified based on your ability. Tai Chi can even be done in a hospital bed. You don't even have to get out of bed or out of your chair. Studies show that visualizing exercises extremely beneficial. Even if you cannot move, or do the exercises, as long as you can visualize your body doing them, then you will see benefits. 

Maybe you woke up with your pain one day, or it slowly crept up on you over time, or maybe you have a chronic condition like Fibromyalgia. The body, mind, and spirit approach will help you to conquer your pain, even if there is no specific injury or accident. We talk about several types of pain, one being this type of "other" pain. There is still progress to be made and tools that can help you to feel better. 

Often times surgery can be avoided. If it cannot be avoided whether it's knee surgery or back surgery, there will be recovery and physical therapy involved after the operation. If you already have a healthy lifestyle in place and you have good muscle memory when doing exercises or activities of daily living then the recovery will be less painful and even faster.
